About Fonda

       Everyone knows at least one person with cancer; whether it be our mom, brother, uncle, grandmother, or even co-worker, we all know at least one person with cancer. In fact, there are millions of people with cancer just in the United States- Fonda is one of them and she needs your help!

      Fonda doesn’t let her cancer stop her. With her friends, family, faith, and God, she knows that she can overcome cancer.  She is loving and loyal to her friends. When her friends had their wedding this past summer, they were over-whelmed with all the things they had to do for their wedding. However, Fonda took over and helped them by getting chairs, tables, table cloths, and much more for people to use at the wedding. Without Fonda's help, her friends did not know what they would have done.  She did all of that in a week.  About the same time, she was underemployed, struggling to keep the bills paid, and uninsured.  That was when Fonda found out she had Ovarian Cancer.

      When Fonda told us about her cancer, we asked ourselves what we could do to help her. That’s when we thought about the Steps for Fonda 5k and Fun Run! We said, "Let’s do a charity event to help our friend pay for her cancer treatments!"

      Fonda is close to her family. She has a 26-year-old daughter, and two loving grandchildren. She also has a cat named Thelma. She is thankful for her family because she doesn’t know what she would do if she didn’t have them. Fonda said that the things that have helped her the most to deal with cancer is God, her family, friends, and faith. 

       Fonda is a strong and brave lady to be able to go through cancer, and her friends and family admire her. Steps for Fonda is a race to help Fonda pay her cancer treatment bills. Race Course

The 5K (3.1 mile) race will begin and end at North Forsyth Middle School located at 3645 Coal Mountain Drive, Cumming, GA 30028.  The course is a relatively flat, scenic one that will be fun for runners or walkers.

Race Date Set: February 24, 2013

Alan and Becca just met with Lowell and Meredith Starr of Five Star NTP, the company that will manage our race, Steps For Fonda!! We are so excited about the potential for raising money for Fonda's cancer care! If we do this right, we could raise a couple of thousand dollars!! We will need to sign up 80-120 runners/walkers to break even. Most of the money will come from sponsors and that is where we need YOU! Lowell said we need to get a committee of 8-10 people together to help us get runners/walkers and sponsors.
